The Trellis School
The Trellis School is proud to announce their opening on September 4, 2007 as the first Maryland nonpublic school using Verbal Behavior Methodology as its foundation. The instructional model incorporates the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with a focus on B.F. Skinner's Analysis of Verbal Behavior. A VB program captures and contrives a learner's motivation in natural environment play activities in order to teach and reinforce new skills. Learner motivation to engage in instructional activities is maintained through the application of effective teaching procedures. The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised (ABLLS-R) is used as a curriculum and skills tracking guide, along with the Voluntary MD State Curriculum. Instruction is individualized, with a 1:1 learner: instructor ratio. Data is taken daily to monitor progress and mastery of goals and targets. Progress meetings with parents are held monthly. The Education Director is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Related Services staff includes a speech and language pathologist and an occupational therapist. Male and female students are aged 2 to 8 and are enrolled in Nursery 2 through 4, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2. Educational disabilities served include 14-autism and 04-speech and language impairment. The Trellis School is now accepting intake packets for new students.
