Behavior ConsultationA Behavior Consultation is an intensive observation and thorough evaluation of the child's behaviors in his/her home and/or school environment. Often this includes interview, data collection, and functional assessment regarding the specific behaviors. A behavior consultation is helpful for a wide variety of issues. An assessment can address failure to progress, strategies to increase adaptive behaviors and strategies to decrease maladaptive behaviors. A consultation can answer specific questions or provide new directions in intervention programming. Following the assessment, the consultant will develop a detailed Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to meet the child's current needs. The average amount of visits to develop a plan is 5-6 visits allowing staff to address both short term goals and make recommendations for long term goals.
